    Mr Alak Pal is Consultant Gynaecologist at the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust comprising of Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals. In the private sector, he has clinics and operating sessions at the BMI Clementine Churchill Hospital, Harrow, at the BMI Princess Margaret Hospital, Windsor and at the Spire Thames Valley Hospital, Wexham. In addition, he has weekly clinics at BMI Syon Clinic, Brentford and the Portland Hospital, London.

    He has extensive experience in the management of menstrual disorders and pelvic pain, laparoscopic treatment of ovarian cysts and endometriosis, and in the surgical management of large uterine fibroids, including myomectomy (removal of the fibroid) and hysterectomy (removal of the uterus with the fibroids).

 Alak Pal offers a wide range of treatment options of menstrual disorders from medical management to surgical management by endometrial ablation and hysterectomy (removal of womb).

He has long experience in hysteroscopic surgery including resection of endometrial polyps and submucous fibroids and also in outpatient hysteroscopy. He offers laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery for ovarian cysts and endometriosis.

He is accredited and registered with the British Society of Urogynaecologists (BSUG) for medical and surgical management of pelvic organ prolapse (uterovaginal prolapse) and for management of urinary symptoms in women. He is the clinical lead for Urogynaecology services at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. He has special interests in the management of urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic floor dysfunction, urodynamics and pelvic organ prolapse. He is part of the multidisciplinary team for both local and regional urogynaecology services and uses NICE patient decision aid for management of these disorders.

He specialises in injection of Bulkamid for treatment of stress incontinence and injection of Botox for overactive bladder. For uterine/ vaginal prolapse, he offers repair of rectocele (prolapse of the rectum through the vagina), repair of cystocele ( prolapse of the bladder through the vagina) and vaginal hysterectomy for uterine descent.

He is an accredited colposcopist and trainer for management of abnormal cervical smears and high risk HPV (Human papilloma virus). He was the lead for colposcopy and gynaecological cancer service at Ealing hospital until 2017 and is experienced in the management of precancerous changes in the cervix and in the uterine lining.

He offers advice on management of polycystic ovarian syndrome and on management of menopausal symptoms.

Alak Pal is actively involved in teaching and training of specialist trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as the GP trainees. He is an examiner for final MRCOG examinations of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists since 2012.
