Vaginal hysterectomy

Vaginal hysterectomy is when the uterus and cervix is removed through the vagina with no scar on the abdomen. It is the route of choice when there is some degree of uterine prolapse, but it can also be done without a prolapse. The tubes and ovaries can also be removed with the uterus when necessary. Recovery is very quick and pain and discomfort is significantly less than in an abdominal hysterectomy.
